Doodlemonkie’s Hatchlings are individually designed and
sculpted collector eggs, containing infant creatures. Some are dragon-like in appearance, while
some look like they could be from another world...
But let us
not ponder their origins any longer, nor speculate as to what these things will
grow into. Let us just enjoy them in
these impossibly cute infant forms, preserved for you, for eternity, in molten
metal.
Scale: To give an idea of size, the egg itself measures just over 1.5" from top to base in length.
Each
Hatchling set comprises of several hand made and cast pewter parts, and as
such, each set is unique in finish – slight variations are not only possible,
but to be expected, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind. Every
part is carefully examined and finished, going through several stages of
ageing, cleaning and polishing before being made for sale. Due to small parts, Hatchlings are not
suitable for very small children.

Configurations: Displaying Hatchlings
Hatchlings
are designed to lay inside the egg, allowing the lid to close and hide the
contents inside. If desired, however,
some Hatchlings are crafted so that they can be sat upright in the egg itself;
Hatchlings may even be placed under a
variant lid so as to appear emerging from the fresh egg.
Another
possibility is to place an inverted lid inside the egg, creating a ‘throne’
arrangement to place the Hatchling on.
Cleaning the Hatchlings
As each component has been treated to a sealing coat of jade oil, the handling of these parts should not cause the discolouration usually associated with sweaty fingers on pewter. However, a vigious polish with a soft cloth should be enough to bring some lustre back to the piece.
